Why Soy Wax is Best

I run my one-woman small candle business called SoothingScentsSoyCandles.com. I specialize in botanically-scented soy candles, using only the best ingredients and supplies. SSSC is located in the Ponderosa Pines section of Black Forest, Colorado. My candles are hand poured with love and homemade — actually in my home!

I’m a firm believer that soy wax is the best substrate for candles. Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource that burns longer and with less soot, unlike the petroleum-based paraffin candles. There are no additives in my wax. Therefore, it is better for the air in your living spaces. My purchase of the wax flakes and your purchase of my candles aid the American Soybean farmers. And if you follow the directions on my “memory burn” note included inside each candle, you can avoid the tunneling effect (described in another blog post).
My candles are quite reasonably priced, as opposed to the wooden wick, beeswax, and many paraffin candles. I started off using wicks that had very tiny wires inside (that would mostly burn away), but now I use ECO-wicks. It seemed to me that the far less and much "safer" soot from soy would be compromised by melting down tiny slivers of metal, with whatever by-products they release into the air!
My grown sons say they'll never buy any other candles than mine. Yes, I make them buy candles now instead of gifting them. And they do! And my husband encouraged me to re-start this business because as he said "Gail, your candles are so amazing!"
