About My Botanical Scents

Hello Candle Lovers,

In case you didn't realize it, there are literally thousands of candle scent products out there to select from, maybe even tens of thousands.

 

So how and why did I choose these 22 scents? Sooo many reasons.....

1. Because I make them and have to smell them constantly, I chose fragrances that I enjoy--a bit selfish, I know.

2. All of my scents are very distinct from one another, chosen so as not to have scents that are too similar, e.g. magnolia (I do carry) and gardenia (I do not carry).

3. All of my college degrees have dealt with plant science in one way or another so I have intimate knowledge of the 22 species: my B.S. was in Botany, my M.S. in Vascular Plant Taxonomy (identification), and the Ph.D. was in Science Education.

4. I have avoided "TYPES" because they require special notation on the candle label. I would have to re-print those labels and, thereby, increase costs.

5. I choose scent products that are skin-safe because my own skin is easily irritated. I can't wear sunscreen, not even the kinds formulated for babies and children.

6. I know the negative stigma that phthalates have, so I have avoided oils that contain them even though so many cosmetics and household items contain them. I don't know you and what your allergies may include, so I've chosen to err on the safe side.

7. Similarly, I avoid scents that have a high vanillin content because that bothers some people and can cause yellowing in soy candles.

8. A few of my scents are a combination of different scent products to get just the smell I want, but most are single solutions.

9. And lastly, not wanting to spread myself too thin, and definitely wanting to keep my sanity, I have restricted myself to only two candle scent suppliers: Lone Star Candle Supply.com and Wholesale Supplies Plus.com.
