Meet Gail:
The Hands & Heart Behind Every Candle

a photograph of gail, the business owner

  Hello and Welcome!

Hi! My name is Gail. I'm the owner and sole candle-maker at SSSC. So if you purchase a candle from SSSC, it came directly from my hands. I'm married to a retired college professor and have two grown sons. Before having children, I earned three degrees related to plant biology, hence the botanically-scented specialization and theme of my candles. I taught college-level courses for 20 years and then homeschooled my boys.

I am also a 4th degree Black Belt in WTF Taekwondo and I taught Zumba Cardio and Toning for about five years. Now that I'm older, I still workout routinely and run my candle business

My Story

Well, this is my second go-'round with my candle business :-). I actually started SSSC about 10 years ago. I was in Texas visiting my sister and toured her garage that housed her candle business. In about an hour, she shared with me the basics of candle-making.

Back in Colorado again, I bought a website and all the materials I needed to make soy container candles. However, because I was so new to all of it, I was spending an exorbitant amount of time on both production and marketing. And someone...who shall remain unnamed...let me know about it.

So I quit the business part of it, but continued to hone my recipes and skills. I made many thousands of candles, just giving them away as gifts. Even though I tried not to be all over the place, I had probably 8 different containers and about 30 different scents! I was spread far too thin. Slowly, over the years, I began streamlining my scents and containers.

Everyone who knows me and my candles tell me how fantastic and fragrant they are, how they won't ever buy another brand of candle. Finally, that same unnamed person told me, "Gail, you should restart your candle business because your candles are so amazing". Yep!

So I did and here it is...all of 24 scents and 3 containers! A one-woman-run small business!
